Other camps said she was too sick... we said
Every other camp turned Sara down. Her medical illness was too serious. But Camp Simcha Special’s medical staff takes care of children with more than 100 serious, debilitating, chronic disorders. Most of our campers have more than one.

Camp Simcha Special gave Sara something that medicine couldn’t: a summer where she forgot about illness. Where she was one of the kids. Where the friends she made and experiences she had helped her succeed throughout the year. A Camp Simcha Special summer costs families nothing,
but it’s not free.

We need to raise more than $5,000 per child to give 230 children a vacation that will change the way they see themselves and their lives.Make summer dreams come true for children other camps believe are too sick to go to camp.

Live From Yankee Stadium: Foreman vs. Cotto

Filed under: Uncategorized — jewishupdates @ 3:28 am

JTA

I’m on the field at Yankee Stadium with JTA’s managing editor, Uriel Heilman, and JTA’s boxing correspondent, Marc Brodsky. We’re just minutes away from the start of Yuri Foreman’s title defense against Miguel Cotto. For those who don’t know, Foreman is not only a championship fighter but an Orthodox rabbinical student.

Marc is live blogging the fight over at The Telegraph blog. So check it out.

And root hard for Yuri.

Get breaking news about the ongoing situation in Israel

Filed under: Uncategorized — jewishupdates @ 3:51 pm

JTA

In order to keep you well-informed, we’ve created a new page at JTA dedicated to the ongoing situation in the Middle East.  On it, you’ll find all of our original reporting and analysis, breaking news items, and links to important content from around the Web.

Also, we encourage you to download the free Kolbo Alert.  This lightweight widget runs in the background on your desktop, and when there is an important story breaking, you can set it to flash or pop-up with the latest news.  With more than 1,000 subscribers, you can be sure it is a safe, easy way to keep connected.

This is one of those weeks that really points up the need for an independent Jewish news organization.  As we’re sure you know, we’ve been running our spring fundraising drive, and we are heartened by the generosity of our readers.

If you find JTA’s reporting and services like the ones mentioned above valuable and you haven’t had an opportunity yet to support us, you can do so now by clicking here.

Thanks.
