Preliminary Report: Weather Not Factor In Saba Family Chopper Tragedy

The head of the Directorate General of Aeronautics Civil (DGAC), Hector Gonzalez Weeks released a preliminary report on Sunday’s tragic chopper crash in Mexico, which R”L killed four members of the Saba family Z”L.

At a press conference led by the Minister of Communications and Transport (SCT), he statedthat the Model 109E helicopter Augusta registration XA-LSA, which was manned by Armando Fernandez, inexplicably veered off its course and flew at low altitude before collapsing.

At a press conference, the STC also clarified that the visibility during the flight was more than acceptable and as proof that same day stated that during the period between 19:00 and 22:00 hours, five more helicopters from the same characteristics and similar flight plans authorized to operate in the same altitude, completed their journey without mishap.

Another fact that stands out is that the last communication with air traffic controllers occurred at 20:30 hours, when the helicopter flew over the area of Cuajimalpa and didn’t make any distress calls.

But just one minute later, the chopper crashed after striking numerous trees in the area.

At the conference, the head of the SCT, Juan Molinar Horcasitas, denied that bad weather conditions contributed to the crash which claimed a number of lives, including that of Major Jewish Philanthropist Mogul R’ Moises Saba Moshe Shaba Z”L, and his wife Adela A”H, their son Avraham Z”L, and his wife Judith A”H,and the pilot Armando Fernandez.

However, the official said that so far has not ruled anything about the crash.
